Isle of Eigg Bike Hire –
Cycling is a great way to get around the Isle of Eigg as visitors are not permitted to bring vehicles to the island, and there’s so much to explore on Eigg that sometimes walking just isn’t fast enough!
With one paved single track road across the island and very few vehicles, Eigg is a very safe place to cycle and it’s difficult to get lost – but I’ll talk you through the map of Eigg just in case! There are also a number of great off road tracks to explore, which will take you to some of the most stunning locations on the island. One of which is the Gruilin Track, a doubletrack trail leading out to the ruined settlements of Gruilin, overlooking the Isle of Muck. It’s the perfect place to take a picnic and soak in the serenity of an uninhabited part of the island, and you may even spot a Golden or White Tailed Eagle!
Bike hire starts at £20 per day for adults and £15 per day for children, with discounts available for hires of more than 3 days. All of my bike hires include a helmet and we have a wide sanitised range to suit all head sizes. You will be given a full safety briefing and access to my maps to find your way around Eigg. About Our Bike Fleet
My fleet is primarily made up of Trek bikes, a brand known for their superior build quality and rider led design. I have a good selection of small, medium and large front suspension mountain bikes which are reliable, comfortable, well maintained and perfect to explore the tracks and trails across Eigg.
I also have a great selection of Trek and Giant hybrid bikes geared for Eigg’s rolling terrain. These roll easily on the road and are great for moving back and forth across the island. We have male, unisex and female specific hybrid bikes, and a selection which benefit from a lower step-through crossbar for comfort and ease of use.
I also hire childrens bikes with 20″, 24″ and 26″ wheel sizes. For smaller children I have child seats, nifty double trailers and tag-along bikes to allow younger children to enjoy the thrill of cycling on Eigg. Our Thule rear mounted child bike seats are suitable for children up to 22kg and recommended for infants over 9 months old – these must be booked in advance to allow for fitting. The 5 point childproof safety buckle adjusts giving two positions for increased safety and a snug fit. Our 2 seater child trailers are great fun and are suitable for up to two children not exceeding maximum combined weight of 100lbs (approx 45kg).
Our Avenir tag along bikes are perfect for children that are keen to experience cycling but are not quite yet ready to venture out on their own. The tag-along bikes can be fitted to the majority of our fleet and are suitable for children up to 38.5kg.
