After the amazing success of our first ever Ladies Trail Running Retreat on Eigg, we’re delighted to announce we’re running a second retreat in 2019.
Hosted by Eigg Adventures, join us on the stunning Isle of Eigg in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, exploring the lesser known trails and meeting like minded people. “I absolutely loved it – Eigg is like a different world.”
The retreat will run from Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April, and will include the following:
Three nights bunk room accommodation in the Glebe Barn Hostel
Three meals per day
Three guided runs
A bike for the entirety of your stay
Use of kayaks (weather dependent)
Guided walk, learning about the nature and history of Eigg
After dinner talks
Accommodation is at the Glebe Barn Hostel, one of Scotland’s most beautifully located independent hostels. With a wood burning stove and glorious views over the ocean, you’ll be cosy and comfortable for your time on Eigg. “the hostel was comfortable, warm and everything that it needed to be – stunning views and the sunroom was just fab!”
Meals will be cooked on site to perfection by Eiggy Bread, the island’s caterers. Dietary requirements can be taken into consideration, and we’ll make sure you’re eating all the right things to keep you full of energy for your weekend of running. “the standard of food was amazing!”
You’ll enjoy three guided trail runs during your time here. We’ll have between two and three separate groups to cater for all abilities, so please don’t worry if you think you’re a slow trail runner and may not be able to keep up! Our philosophy on trail running is to enjoy the stunning island landscape rather than aiming for speedy times so we plan to spend a lot of time enjoying the views, taking pictures and just generally having fun. “routes were amazing, so scenic and fantastic fun.”
The afternoons will be free for you to relax in the Glebe Barn in front of the wood burning stove or in the sun room, or you can take advantage of the fitness and stretching sessions on offer. In addition, we’re providing kayaks (weather dependent) and bikes so you can visit the local seal colony in Kildonan Bay, or take a ride down to Galmisdale Bay Tearoom for a pint of locally brewed Eigg beer. “more than I could have imagined, brilliant in every part.”
On Monday, once packed and ready to vacate the hostel, we’ve arranged a guided walk for you to make the most of your time on Eigg before leaving on the afternoon ferry back to Mallaig. You’ll learn all about the fascinating history of Eigg and perhaps spot the Golden Eagles, if you’re lucky!
It promises to be a wonderful weekend of adventure, exploring and relaxing, and we can’t wait to have you join us on the west coast of Scotland for this fantastic trail running retreat. “I’ve had the most amazing time, Eigg is just fabulous!”
The total cost for the retreat is £395, covering everything mentioned above. To book your place, please click here. If you have any questions please click here to contact us or find us on social media @EiggAdventures.
