Isle of Eigg Sailing Trips

SelkieSailCropEigg Adventures are proud to be partnering with Selkie Explorers to provide bespoke sailing trips from the Isle of Eigg. Selkie is skippered by Eigg resident Celia Bull, and she is ably supported by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable crew.

The Trips

Eigg Adventures have worked with Selkie Explorers to offer half day, full day, evening and multi day sailing trips. During the summer our half/full day sailing excursions are for those who want to try out the delights of sailing in the beautiful living waters that surround the Small Isles, watching out for wildlife surrounded by the dramatic, historic scenery. If you are joining us for the day we provide a meal, cooked on board, possibly with fish that you’ve caught! Our evening sails are a perfect way to experience the stunning sunsets and magical dusk light.

HelmTheoHalf day and full day sails will normally depart during  the morning from the Pier at Galmisdale bay. The precise itinerary for the day will depend on wind direction and your preferences. You’ll meet at the Adventure Hut to receive your safety briefing and will be picked up by dinghy from the Eigg pier and join the boat. (Other pick up points, on the mainland and other islands, are happily accommodated by prior arrangement.) You can help to weigh anchor, hoist Dylansails and helm the boat. An example trip is sailing around the island, or to another of the Small Isles. We can anchor and explore for a wee while, forage, fish or arrange for a history tour or a hill walk. Options can be discussed at time of booking and on the day.

Half day sails are priced at just £50 per adult and £30 per child, full day sails are £90 per adult and £60 per child.

The Boat

Selkie was designed for sailing in the challenging waters of Antarctica, South Georgia, the African coast and the Pacific. The West Coast of Scotland is a tough place for a boat and she is fit for purpose, combining strength, stability, comfort and speed. Selkie’s lifting keel allows her to access some amazing locations amongst the spectacular islands along the West Coast of Scotland. The wide beam allows for a large and comfortable deck and greater stability, plus the added advantage of a spacious and comfortable interior.
