Isle of Eigg Kayaking

Isle of Eigg Kayaking

If you want to see Eigg from a different angle, then our sit-on kayaks are just perfect for an adventure out on the water. We have a range of single and tandem sit on top kayaks, ideal for paddling around the bays and exploring the coastline at Galmisdale

The local seals (Grey and Common) love nothing more than to follow our kayaks around the bay, and you will be very unlucky not to see them. You may also be lucky enough to spot our resident otters.  More elusive than the seals, there have been some magical moments for our visitors, getting to watch the otters eat a freshly caught lunch on the rocks. We have recently had sightings of sea eagles, porpoise, dolphins and minke whales from the water, and a few wonderful encounters with Basking Sharks (don’t worry, they are vegetarian!)

All of our 2 or 4 hour unguided kayak sessions take place in the beautiful Galmisdale and Kildonan Bay’s, which are where the boats arrive from Mallaig and Arisaig. The bay’s are perfect for exploring, with lots of hidden beaches and coves where you can enjoy a private picnic. They’re very sheltered, and the water is so clear you just won’t know where to look.

Kayaks can be hired from £30 for two hours or £40 for 4 hours, and all safety equipment is included (buoyancy aid, paddle, leash and dry bag). Children of 12 and above are permitted to use single kayaks and under 12’s are permitted to use tandem kayaks with an adult. Unfortunately you can’t hire a kayak if you are under the age of 18 and without a supervising adult.

We advise you wear light clothing and/or waterproofs as you will get a wet lap and bottom.  You will also get wet feet when you launch the kayak so we suggest you wear trousers/shorts that you can roll up to the knee.
